We don’t need to mince words. If a Fast and Furious movie comes out during a calendar year, it’s making it in the year end Top 5. So, it’s no surprise Furious 7 made it. They drove cars from buildings to buildings, The Rock broke out of a cast, Ludacris did some Kung-Fu, they added Jason Statham, they parachuted cars onto a little ass road on a mountain… man I can really go on and on about Furious 7.
Probably the most visually stunning movie of the year (or at least tied with The Revenant). Non-stop action from beginning to end. And Mad Max: Fury Road might be the best action movie of the last 5 years.
I was not expecting Dope to be this great, because it snuck up on me, and I was not familiar with any of the actors in it. But it was hilarious. And it will be a movie that I will probably re-watch a good 47 times before I die.
Sicario had gritty & stirring story. “Da Gawd” Benicio Del Toro staked his claim to be the best living actor. And Denis Villeneuve is one of those directors where if I know he’s making a film, I’m watching it. Check his resume.
I’m a Rocky fan. Shit, I even liked Rocky 5. But this movie even surpassed expectations. I copped my ticket early and watched it on Thanksgiving Day. Yep, right after dessert me and my entire family got in the car and went to go see Creed. And it did not disappoint. Ryan Coogler was on point. The boxing scenes were the best I have ever seen in a movie. The script was amazing. Michael B. Jordan is a movie star. And they even managed to pry Sylvester Stallone away from making Expendables movies to put in a solid and toned down performance.
